HOW TO: Convert PDF to Kindle Format – .MOBI, .AZW Extension(S)

Many eBooks that are on the internet are set in the extension of .PDF (Portable documenty from adobe). Even though they say these are “eBooks”, They will work on a select amount of eReaders.. Not the case if you have an Amazon kindle. To read that eBook that is in PDF format, you will need to convert it into a format that the Kindle can understand.

To convert to a format for the Kindle, you need a piece of software to convert it for you, The other day I came accross software that  is easy to use, and gets the job done.

NOTE: THE AMAZON KINDLE CURRENTLY ONLY SUPPORTS THE .MOBI, .AZW EXTENSIONS, THIS IS THE EXTENSION THE EBOOK NEEDS TO BE IN.

Calibre conversion is the best piece of software to do this, and best of all, the software is FREE! All you need to do is download it on your computer, and then install it. Once it is installed, you can easily convert that PDF by following the steps that are provided below.

1. OPEN the Program

2 Select Add books, Followed by Add books from a single directory.

3. Select the eBook that you wish to convert, and click “open”.

4. To convert the book, select “Convert individually”.

5. Select the format you wish to convert to (If you are a kindle user, select “MOBI”).

Then, it will process the file and let you know when it is complete, from there you can add it to your kindle and read it as if you bought the book! Nothing better then free STUFF.

Furthermore, I have found more software (however, the one mentioned above is the easiest to use..or at least to me, a complete noob). The other two software are called — ZamZar, and then there is an online converter called “Ebook online convert“.
